Student Stories
Every student walks in our door with a remarkable story. This page is a rotating gallery of those stories narrated by the community of The Merasi School.
Kashmira Khan, Folk Arts Rajasthan scholarship student and Merasi School Support Teacher: "I want to be a very good helper. I like to help and then I like to see other kids help other kids."
Sahajat Khan, Merasi School Big Class Student: "Here's what I like about school: we each get our own slates, the teachers are nice, and I can sit next to Akram. I also like that it is my school. It's my Merasi School where I learn Merasi things. I don't think there are other schools like this."
Suriya Khan, Merasi School Big Class Student "I once tried to dance with a group of girls down the street. But they kept on moving away from me. First, they said it was because I can't make my arms straight because I have this funny elbow that's always a little bent. I told them that my elbow was pretty close to straight. But then they said my family wasn't right and they couldn't play with me. I came to Merasi School and told Kashmira (one of the Merasi School Support Teachers) about it and that day in class, we made up a dance only for kids with funny elbows."
